Exercise places - Curves

So now I’m doing Curves thanks to a free month's trial. Great selection of equipment, reasonable rates. You basically go around in a circle switching between 30 seconds of exercise on a machine that works a specific part of your body, and a square where you should do some kind of cardio movement. It’s actually a good workout!

The average age of those who go to Curves compared to Barre Bee Fit rose by at least 30 years – meaning I can look around and gain inspiration! I mean, come on – what’s inspiring about someone half your age keeping up with the hour long torture sessions? When I see some at least 75 yrs old working out on equipment – that’s inspiration!

Exercise places - Barre Bee Fit

The first Groupon purchase took me to Barre Bee Fit in downtown Ann Arbor. This is for women only - though I think the owner said recently they may open up some classes for men. It was a good price for Groupon, but a bit pricey without the coupon. Somehow lots of young women and students seem to be able to afford it though. You get a great workout - which verges on nearly impossible if you get the super in-shape leaders.
Good focus on stretching. Now I stretch - I never used to.
You exercise in socks on very cushy flooring. This is the second place I've been to where you don't wear sneakers, but the soft flooring here was great!
Good music to get you pumped up.

Introduction to the wellness blog

My workplace was looking for a new "wellness champion." After trying to ignore the request, then finding out no one else had volunteered, I decided it might be fun. I'll post items from time to time, and hope others will contribute their own suggestions. The goal is total wellness - body, mind, and spirit.

I'm on a new exercise kick myself - thanks to Groupon and Living Social. I bought all these cheap one month trial memberships to various exercise places around town. Now I have to use them. The timing was great since I can't afford the new wardrobe I'd have to buy if I didn't start to change my bad habits.

This isn't going to be easy. I've been exercising at least 3 times a week for the past month, cut back dramatically on my food intake (and no, I'm not starving myself - can't use that as an excuse for my body deciding to stop digesting my food), and managed to loose 2 lbs, which I gained back after one delicious meal of bbq ribs. But - I'm not giving up!
